He never let the parents come back to the operatory, which always made me a little nervous. \u00a0Tonight I saw on the news that he was arrested on charges of child pornography. \u00a0I almost threw up. \u00a0Now I&#8217;m wondering if my child could be on some of that pornography. \u00a0My son is already asleep, so I haven&#8217;t spoken with him. Should I go to the police? How do I ever trust another dentist with my child?<\/p>\n<p>Emily S. &#8211; Arkansas<\/p>\n<p>Emily,<\/p>\n<p>There is nothing worse than a breach of trust from people who work with our children. That is the vilest of crimes. I have a couple of suggestions for your. First, you can bring a photo of your child by the police station. Explain to them your concerns and leave the picture with them. They can compare it with the images they confiscated. That would be one way to find out without having to speak with your child about it. \u00a0Though, I&#8217;m feeling like you are worried about more than images. In that case, you could ask your child if their dentist ever made them feel unomfortable. Don&#8217;t press it.<\/p>\n<p>When it comes to finding a new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.myoklahomacitydentist.com\/childrens-dentistry.html\">pediatric dentist<\/a>, that is something easier to deal with. First, remember, most pediatric dentists get into this field because they care about children and have pure motives. \u00a0I know it can be frightening, especially after your experience today, but there are great people in this world.<\/p>\n<p>It sounds like you had a gut feeling about this dentist. Your intuition is a good defense. \u00a0If you&#8217;re uncomfortable with anything, don&#8217;t go to that dentist.
