Porcelain Veneers

Create Dream Smiles

Have you ever been unhappy with or embarrassed by your smile? You are far from alone! According to a survey done by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, about half of all Americans have something they'd like to change about their smile. There is good news, though. Porcelain veneers can completely remake your smile in just two appointments. In no time at all, you can have a gorgeous smile that you can't wait to show off.

What are Porcelain Veneers?

They are thin wafers of porcelain that are bonded directly to your teeth, giving you a complete smile makeover. Porcelain is an ideal choice because of the way it mimics the innate beauty and light reflection of your natural teeth. Because their surface is harder than natural tooth enamel, they are extremely long lasting. An added benefit is that they are even more stain resistant than your own natural teeth, so with good oral hygiene, you can maintain their brilliant white color for many years.

Problems Solved by Porcelain Veneers

  • Misshapen teeth : With veneers, you can shorten or lengthen the appearance of your teeth. You can even change the shape of your teeth to obtain a particular type of smile. Do you want a youthful smile? A sophisticated smile? No problem.
  • Crooked teeth : Veneers will not straighten your teeth, but they will make them look straight. You can get your teeth straightened with braces if you don't mind waiting for the time necessary for them to do their job. If you're in a hurry, however, veneers can take care of your crooked teeth in just two appointments.
  • Discolored teeth : Porcelain veneers can be made to any color specification. You can determine their level of whiteness. In most cases, you can use teeth whitening to change the color of your teeth, but for some types of stains, however, whitening won't work, and veneers will be a better solution.

Porcelain Veneers Procedure

First, you and Dr. Swearingen will discuss the type of smile you desire, including the shape and color you have in mind.

After the planning of the smile design, your teeth may need some slight preparation. If they do, a small amount of enamel is shaved off (about half a millimeter) and an impression is taken. Dr. Swearingen will then make you a set of temporary veneers so you can give your new smile design a sort of "test drive" to see what you think. If you like how they look, the permanent veneers will be made to that design and color.

Then, when your porcelain veneers have been made by the ceramist, you will get to try them on with a temporary paste. If you love how they look, the veneers will be adhered to your teeth with a permanent bonding agent. Dr. Swearingen feels so certain you'll love your new look that he has a beautiful smile guarantee.
